Uddami India Foundation supports Uddami Computer Training Center (UCTC). The training center provides:

Practical computer training
Computer teacher training
Life Skills course
Spoken English classes

The core computer teaching staff is entirely comprised of women who have graduated from UCTC and come from similar backgrounds to the students. Life Skills and Spoken English courses are taught by staff sourced outside of UCTC who have the additional experience and the specific skills these courses require. UCTC provides young women and men from low-income backgrounds the opportunity to develop employable IT skills.  Students learn Microsoft Office, email communication, internet search techniques, basic design and HTML for webpages.

Menstrual health and Hygiene Management Programme

Uddami India Foundation has expanded its work in the area of feminine hygiene from October 2019. Awareness programmes on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management has been taken up among girls and women in Kolkata and South 24 Parganas with support from Unicharm.

Good menstrual hygiene plays an important role in enabling women and girls to reach their full potential and ensure that they are not limited by something as natural as their periods. Through the programme Uddami aims to spread awareness on menstruation and menstrual hygiene management and ensure availability and accessibility of sanitary napkins to women and girls as per their need.

Graduates of UCTC who wish to develop their skills as a computer teacher can take a training course taught by current UCTC teachers. The course takes place in UCTC and gives valuable experience in an actual learning environment.

 

Psychological Wellbeing

In addition to the Life Skill course, Uddami India Foundation is presently offering one to one counselling session, counselling and workshop with adolescent and youth for personal development through art bases therapy.  Interactive sessions through games, talks and other practical sessions for groups. We are also offering counselling sessions for parents / parent guidance clinic. Individuals can register for sessions through prior appointment.

Life and soft skills course

The optional Life Skills class develops soft skills that help students both in the workplace and in their everyday lives. These skills include communicating clearly, asserting themselves, solving problems, making informed decisions and setting goals.

 

Smile Twin E-learning Programme (STeP) – GDA Training

Through Hybrid Model, which includes e-learning and offline practical classes, Uddami India Foundation in partnership with Smile Foundation is conducting GDA training programme for young girls and boys between the age group of 18 to 35 years. This national level programme, livelihood project trains the poor and underprivileged youth with technical training, English proficiency, soft skills training for enhancing their prospects for employment in the healthcare sector.

The first Smile Twin E-learning GDA training centre supported by Ericson started in October 2020 and the second centre supported by Siemens started in May 2021. Since October 2020, Uddami has successfully trained 120 students and they have been placed in different hospitals, nursing homes, homebased care and diagnostic centres.

spoken english classes

The Spoken English class is an optional addition to the UCTC computer training course. This aims to significantly improve the spoken English skills of our students, simultaneously as they learn IT skills.
